How this recommendation works
The tool first protects a starter cushion based on essential expenses and income stability. It then weighs the guaranteed cost of the entered debt APR against the risk of needing to borrow again after an emergency. It does not account for tax consequences, employer matches, delinquent accounts, or contractual penalties.
Is that balance-transfer offer actually worth it?
Compare the transfer fee, payoff deadline, post-promotion rate, and staying put using the same monthly payment.

See the true deadline
The result shows estimated savings, the payment needed before the promo ends, and whether your planned payment leaves a balance exposed to the go-to APR.
Assumptions and important limits
The fee is added to the transferred balance. Interest is compounded monthly, payments are fixed, and no new purchases are made. Actual issuers may set transfer limits, minimum fees, deadlines, eligibility rules, or different APR calculations. Transfers between cards from the same issuer may be ineligible. Verify the offer disclosure before applying.
What payment reaches your utilization target?
Calculate both overall and per-card utilization, then see where a payment changes the most—not a made-up score prediction.

Plan, don’t predict
Credit-scoring formulas vary. This tool calculates balances and limits only; it never promises a point increase.
What utilization can—and cannot—tell you
Utilization is revolving balance divided by revolving credit limit. Scoring models may consider overall and individual-account utilization, along with many other factors. Issuers report on different dates, often near statement closing. A lower ratio may help, but no specific ratio guarantees a score or approval outcome.
