Keep the purchase the same
Compare one item at one price, then change the payment assumptions. Otherwise, a cheaper item can make one payment method appear better even though the product choice caused the difference. Read actual account terms separately, including fees and repayment dates.
Ask where the money comes from
Debit generally uses money in the linked account. Credit creates a balance to repay under the card agreement. A spending limit on a card is not the same thing as an amount a household can afford. Before buying, identify which future income will cover any repayment.
Discuss the result, not just the monthly amount
Ask what is paid immediately, what remains owed, and how a missed or delayed payment could affect the plan. A smaller installment does not by itself show a lower total cost. Treat displayed estimates as illustrations; actual billing rules and fees depend on the agreement.
